AI policy professional joins EqualAI, bringing extensive experience to help drive responsible AI practices
EqualAI is pleased to welcome Tina Huang as our Director of Strategic Initiatives. In this role, Huang will identify, develop, and oversee key partnerships as well as scale our highly regarded initiatives such as the EqualAI Badge© Program, the EqualAI MCLE for Lawyers, the In AI we Trust? podcast, the Corporate Membership program, and other impactful initiatives.
Huang brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the role, most recently serving as a Policy Program Manager at the Stanford Institute for Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence (HAI), where she oversaw programs designed to inform policymaker decisions around emerging technologies. Before joining Stanford HAI, Huang worked on Capitol Hill as an AI Policy Fellow for U.S. Representative Jerry McNerney (CA-09) then-co-chair of the Artificial Intelligence Caucus. She also previously served as a Research Analyst at Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology (CSET), where she focused on U.S. AI talent and the implications of military use of AI.
“Tina’s wealth of experience and expertise in AI policy and governance, combined with her passion for ensuring the safety and inclusivity of AI use and access in our society, will help us scale our efforts and accomplish more in service of our mission,” said Miriam Vogel, President and CEO of EqualAI. “With Tina’s leadership, we are poised to make significant strides in helping stakeholders responsibly develop, deploy, and govern AI, and ensure that a broader cross section of the population is able to benefit from AI-enabled opportunities, and I am thrilled to have her join our team.”
In addition to her work in AI policy, Huang is also a Senior Advisor for Girl Security, a non-profit preparing girls, women, and gender minorities for careers in national security, where she previously served as the organization’s curriculum program director.
“I’m thrilled to be joining the team at EqualAI, an organization at the forefront of helping create partnerships between companies, lawyers, and policymakers to advance responsible AI governance,” said Huang. “I look forward to working with the team to advance a more equitable AI future, and to help shape the landscape of AI policy and governance.”
Huang holds an M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University and a B.A. in International Studies from Emory University. Her expertise and leadership will be instrumental in guiding EqualAI’s mission to reduce unconscious bias in AI as it becomes increasingly pervasive in our world.
About EqualAI: EqualAI is a nonprofit organization created to reduce unconscious bias in the development and use of artificial intelligence (AI) through the development of responsible AI governance. Together with leaders and experts across industry, academia, technology, and government, EqualAI is developing standards and tools to increase awareness and reduce bias, as well as identifying regulatory and policy solutions. EqualAI Badge© Program on responsible AI governance, in collaboration with the World Economic Forum, provides senior executives with guidance on best practices and strategies to develop and deploy trustworthy AI across enterprises. EqualAI’s podcast “In AI We Trust?” with Miriam Vogel and Kay Firth-Butterfield of the World Economic Forum aims to answer a ‘big question’ each episode in achieving responsible AI use with prominent lawmakers, leading thinkers, and internationally renowned authors. In each of its efforts, EqualAI invites partners to join a community of leading thinkers and practitioners committed to ensuring that AI is built by and for a broader cross-section of our population.
